Join park educators in learning what fish live in Jamaica Bay!

Event Details

No experience necessary, join us on Penn Pier to learn the ins and outs of (catch & release) fishing in Jamaica Bay! All supplies, including rods and bait will be provided.

Participants will also learn about fish identification, fishing equipment and techniques, angling ethics, and aquatic ecology.

Each session is limited to 15 fishing rods; families/small groups are encouraged to share a rod.

Session times: 10:00am to 11:00am | 11:30am to 12:30pm | 1:00pm to 2:00pm | 2:30pm to 3:30pm

Adaptable fishing equipment is available, but limited in supply per session. Specialized equipment is reserved for anybody who may need assistance holding a rod, or reeling in the line. Contact us directly for more details about what is available.

Important information:

This program takes place at Penn Pier. The pier is approximately 0.5 miles from the Pennsylvania Avenue Parking Lot along a paved path, you will have to walk along Hendrix Creek Road to meet up at the pier for the program, approximately 20 minutes.

Free sport fishing clinics waive the requirement of participants to possess a fishing license or enroll in the Recreational Marine Fishing Registry (during program hours only).
