Description

Celebrate the 2-year anniversary of Women's Weekend Film Challenge with a fundraiser screening hosted by Stranger Things' Catherine Curtin.

Event Details

Join Women's Weekend Film Challenge (WWFC) for an evening of cinema and champagne to celebrate the two-year anniversary of our groundbreaking initiative. The event will be hosted by Catherine Curtin of "Orange is the New Black," "Stranger Things," "Insecure" and "Homeland."

WWFC places filmmakers on crews to write, shoot and edit a short film in just one weekend. In just two years, WWFC has held three film challenges in NYC, producing 24 short films with more than 500 professional female filmmakers. Those films have already been accepted into over 60 film festivals! In 2020, we will be holding a challenge here in NYC as well as our first LA challenge.

In order to eliminate the financial barriers faced by women in film, we keep this program free for participants. Plus, we provide all of the necessary resources — from production insurance to top-of-the-line equipment — that filmmakers need to tell their stories and advance their careers.

You can support women in film and the creation of women-led content by attending this fundraiser. Ticket costs go directly toward the operation of Women's Weekend Film Challenge, so you'll be elevating the careers of hundreds of talented filmmakers as we enter our third year of programming.

During this fundraiser, you'll hear from actress Catherine Curtin, best known for her roles as Wanda Bell on "Orange is the New Black," Claudia Henderson on "Stranger Things," Joanne on "Insecure" and Sandy Langmore on "Homeland."
