Description

This is the page for Loading Dock Theatre Company. We focus on original, character-driven plays that explore the extremes in human behavior. Loding Dock was formed by playwright/director Leegrid Stevens and actor Erin Treadway in 2009. The company is based in Brooklyn where we rehearse and build shows, and has expanded to include Ryan Pointer, BJ Evans and Jacob Titus. Loading Dock’s primary focus is to produce original plays that explore the extremes in human behavior. We produce emotional, character-driven plays with an experimental edge. Loading Dock’s first show, The Dudleys, was presented at the Dream Up Festival at Theatre for the New City in 2010. The production was awarded a Talkin’ Broadway Summer 2010 Citation for Outstanding New Play and was lauded by critic Martin Denton as, “One of the most exciting theatre experiences I’ve had this year.” The Dudleys went on to a critically acclaimed production in Austin the following year. Loading Dock’s most recent play, Spaceman, was presented at the Incubator Arts project in 2012. Critic Aaron Grunfeld of NY SF Review praised the production as “...a masterpiece of science fiction. A work of compassion, humor and keen insight.” Spaceman was nominated for four NY Innovative Theatre awards including, Outstanding Script, Outstanding Production, Outstanding Solo Performance, and Outstanding Sound Design, winning the latter two. Spaceman went on to a limited run at Amherst College’s Ko Festival.
