Event Details

Join BLDG 92 and Kings County Distillery for a tour and tasting that explores whiskey scandals of the past and the resurgence of the industry today. Participants will get the opportunity to learn about the Brooklyn Navy Yard’s role in dispatching Marines to crack down on illegal whiskey distilling in the nineteenth century, as well as the details of distilling and crafting whiskey today.

Kings County Distillery is New York City’s oldest, largest, and premier whiskey distillery, the first since prohibition. Founded in 2010, Kings County makes handmade moonshine, bourbon, and other whiskeys out of the 119-year-old Paymaster Building in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Kings County uses New York grain and traditional distilling equipment to make distinctive spirits with several whiskeys earning numerous awards and was named Distillery of the Year in 2016 by the American Distilling Institute. Visitors are welcome every day to Kings County’s Gatehouse tasting room that located in the 1896 ceremonial entrance to the Brooklyn Navy yard on Navy Street.
