Mass Effects: THE TOMBS

Event Details

MASS EFFECTS is a new film series examining how mass incarceration has adversely affected the Black community. The MASS EFFECTS Film Series brings needed attention to criminal justice reform and how mass incarceration affects not just those who are jailed, but how the Black family is affected psychologically and socio-economically, as well as their community.
The films are important, the conversations after even more so.
THE TOMBS 2011, 30 minutes
starring Nashawn Kearse, Rob Morgan, Ephraim Benton, Omar Scroggins, Rosalyn Coleman, Jas Anderson, and Arthur French
A Brooklyn man has a perilous three-day journey through New York's infamous central booking jail system, famously known as The Tombs. This powerful short film from director Jerry LaMothe (BlacKout, Nora’s Hair Salon) provides a scary glimpse of what it’s like to be caught up in the criminal ‘justice’ system.
