This week at L@TA we're bringing the new star of Nubian pop to Dumbo, with a special pointe ballet experience to open. A solo show by Priscilla Fusco, “Obelisk, beetles, empire,” takes over the Gallery.

Live at the Archway is DUMBO's signature series: dynamic musical performances + spectacle opening acts + a pop-up art gallery + interactive art experiences, in a magical, only-in-DUMBO setting. Always free, all ages, + rain or shine.

The Archway Under the Manhattan Bridge is a public plaza in DUMBO, Brooklyn. It’s on Water St between Anchorage Place and Adams St.

THE HEADLINER | AT 6:15PM. Alsarah & the Nubatones was born out of many conversations between Alsarah and Rami el-Aasser about Nubian ‘songs of return’—modern migration patterns and the cultural exchanges between Sudan and Egypt. Inspired by both the golden age of Sudanese pop music of the 70s and the New-York effervescence, Alsarah & The Nubatones have built a repertoire where an exhilarating oud plays electric melodies on beautiful jazz-soul bass lines, and where sharp and modern percussion breathe new life to age-old rhythms.
THE OPENER, FOR KIDS AND KIDS-AT-HEART | AT 5:30PM. konverjdans celebrates the convergence of different art forms, backgrounds, and experiences by always creating dance in collaboration with other artists including musicians, visual artists, photographers, filmmakers, and others; always performing with live music, highlighting the importance of musical collaboration in dance; and performing in a wide variety of spaces, making dance accessible to diverse audiences. konverjdans was a Selected Choreographer at the 2018 Women in Dance Leadership Conference in New York City, has been presented several times by Norte Maar, and has been an invited guest company/collaborator at Ballet Vero Beach in Florida. konverjdans has presented work at venues all around New York, such as Danspace Project, Mark Morris Dance Center, Gibney Dance Center, The Actors Fund Arts Center, and others.
