Description

Now entering its third season, Music in Color turns its focus to the music and life of Gabriela Lena Frank, an American composer of Peruvian, Chinese, and Lithuanian Jewish descent.

Event Details

Having been commissioned to write a piece by OSL in 2015, Frank is featured in this program with a narration written and performed by Kirya Traber. The program includes selections from Frank’s own string quartets, as well as a piece by one of her inspirations, Chou Wen-chung, and five new works composed by Fellows of the Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy of Music and co-commissioned by OSL and GLFCAM.

This concert is part of OSL's Free Community Concert Series, in which the Music in Color program travels to all five boroughs of New York City. The Hostos Center for the Arts & Culture is our Bronx partner.
